The three that do the work

A page title, a description, and a preview image. The title is the strongest on-page signal you control and the line people click in search results. The description does not affect ranking directly, but it is your advertisement underneath — write it as a reason to click, not a summary of the HTML.

Why the same text repeats

Search engines read <title> and meta description. Facebook, LinkedIn, WhatsApp and Slack read the og: tags. X reads the twitter: ones and falls back to Open Graph. There is no single tag all of them agree on, so the output repeats your text across all three sets. That is normal and correct.

The preview image

Make it 1200 by 630 pixels and give it an absolute URL — a relative path is the single most common reason a link preview comes up blank. Anything under 300 pixels wide gets shown as a small square thumbnail instead of a banner.

Put readable text on it. Most people see your link as a card in a message thread long before they see the page.

Those character limits

Sixty and a hundred and sixty are approximations. Google measures rendered width in pixels, not characters, so a title in capitals runs out sooner. Front-load what matters and going a little over costs you nothing.
